The ClearVid CMOS Sensor gives you realistic images and 5.1 channel surround sound lets you record the sounds as well. You can leave the tapes at home, thanks to the internal 40 GB hard disk drive that stores up to 20 hours of amazingly clear video (LP) with up to 520 lines of horizontal resolution. An industry leading Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens captures incomparable detail while the dual recording feature allows you to capture 2.3 megapixel still images at the same time while you're filming video. Its included Handycam Station allows you to immediately share your footage with the one touch disc burn feature. The 1/3" ClearVid CMOS Sensor with 1990K (effective) pixels provides stunning detail and clarity with exceptional video (up to 530 lines of horizontal resolution) and still image performance. The megapixel technology enhances your digital videos and digital still (3980K) photography performance. The 10x optical zoom helps to bring the action close up from far away. In addition the digital zoom interpolation helps to get clearer image even when an object is extremely zoomed with the help of its digital zoom. Carl Zeiss lenses have an advanced optical multi-layer coating that offers less glare and flare with increased contrast. The 2.7" Wide (16:9) Touch Panel SwivelScreen LCD Display provides excellent viewing clarity. The high resolution 211K pixel LCD screen rotates up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles providing sharp, detailed images for monitoring or playback, and the widescreen format makes shooting and composing shots in 16:9 mode even easier. The Super SteadyShot Picture Stabilization System controls an even higher range of shake and vibration frequencies, to achieve a higher level of smoothness without degradation of video like some other image stabilization systems. For additional control of the camcorder, the DCR-SR200 features zoom and record buttons on the frame of the LCD screen. A unique shock absorber protects the hard disk drive from physical damage if the unit is dropped. When the 3G Sensor detects a drop (loss of gravity) the power to the hard disk drive is turned off in order to prevent damage. During this time the DCR-SR200 remains powered on and recording video to the built-in buffer. Once the unit has recovered from the drop the buffer is then recorded to the Hard Disk Drive.
